Engaging Our Community, Increasing Awareness of Valuable Services at Spring Fiesta

Every month, among SBFDC’s on-site partners, we discuss how we can enhance our collective service to the community. Last fall, we launched a Saturday “Fiesta” outreach with an “Open House” format, after consulting with our partners and community.
Building upon our Fall Fiesta’s success, we hosted another event on April 8th. More than 450 community members attended Spring Fiesta, many of whom were new to SBFDC. For two hours on Saturday morning, we opened up the entire site, providing incentives for each family to visit all three of the buildings, learn about programs and interface with staff.
Along with great information, we had a lot of fun! Families took pictures with the Easter Bunny, made “furry friends” at the petting zoo, played in the gym, made Spring-themed crafts, and we had two egg hunts!

Our on-site agencies promoted their services and answered questions – and all of them walked away with appointments and new clients.
We appreciate our participating partners’ collaboration:
SBISD Panda Path PreK, Family U, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston, Kids’ Meals, UT Health WIC, Family Houston, Therapy Connections PC, and Harris County Department of Education

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers!

Spring Woods Middle School students prepared the crafts and eggs.
Wells Fargo staff, MHS SHAC students, Boys & Girls Young Professionals Group, Seitel, SBFDC Board Members & other community members made the event fun and run smoothly!
