Recreation is essential to a child’s development. At the SBFDC, we strive to provide a safe space for children to play. The health of children is intertwined with their ability to have space and time for recreation.
As Fred Rogers said, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
In the early assessment of community needs, it was found that there was a lack of adequate space for children to play, thus recreation became an essential component to the SBFDC. The primary partner that provides recreation at SBFDC is:
